WELCOME TO AFRICA
MAKE THE MOST OF YOUR AFRICAN ADVENTURE
Africa is a fascinating continent which can reward
the visitor with unforgettable experiences, but remember
that it is not North America and things are different
there. While Wings of the World does everything possible
to ensure your trip is comfortable and hassle-free,
sometimes local conditions totally beyond our control
may disrupt your travel plans. Wings of the World
will do everything we can to overcome problems and
minimize any inconvenience to you.
Canadian and American citizens need passports which
are valid at least six months after the planned date
of your return from Africa. Visas are not required
except for Tanzania and Kenya. Visas for those countries
must be obtained from their High Commission offices
before your departure. Please allow sufficient time
to get any required documents before your departure
date. Holders of other passports should check with
Wings of the World about passport and visas requirements.
Baggage allowance for international flights is two
pieces for economy class. Most internal domestic flights
limit baggage to 20kg, but some transfers by light
aircraft allow only 10kg of soft luggage. Excess luggage
often can be stored in city hotels until your return.
Check with your doctor or local health clinic on suggested
precautions as local conditions and requirements can
change. Currently no inoculations are mandatory for
southern Africa but it is advisable to be inoculated
against hepatitis A, tetanus and typhoid. Protection
against malaria is essential.
Casual, light, neutral coloured clothing is best for
daywear. For dinner in some hotels and restaurants
in Zimbabwe and Kenya, suitable attire is jacket and
tie for men and equivalent dress for women. Rainwear
is needed if visiting during the wet season. Include
warmer clothing for early mornings and winter evenings.
The African sun can be hot so take hat, sunglasses
and comfortable walking shoes, as well as sun protection
